With school in full swing and the holidays cruising towards us it's so important to remember it is also Cold & Flu season. At this point in the year we are getting less Vitamin D through sun exposure, are being pounded with allergies, and are just generally feeling run down as the holidays are hitting.
Here are some quick tips to stay healthy this cold & flu season
Eat a diet rich in greens, healthy fats such as avocados and nuts, and minimal processed foods goes a long way to keeping your immune system in tip top shape.
Runny nose, watery eyes, itchy nose? Sounds like nasty Austin allergies. Nettles tea or tincture are our all time favorite. Kick it up a notch with some D- hist and Xclear Nasal Spray.
So, you think it's the flu? rapid onset, body aches, fever, chills, headache? Elderberry syrup and homeopathic oscillococinum are life savers. If you want confirmation, visit April at Family Health & Wellness Clinic for a rapid flu test and full evaluation.
Stuffy nose, cough, no energy? Sounds like a cold- which can get pretty miserable. We love hot tea with honey and lemon for your cough, lots of Vitamin C, elderberry, fenugreek for nasal congestion, and plenty of garlic. Think old school chicken noodle soup!
Other: cayenne pepper lemonade is great for clearing chest congestion, oregano oil is a powerful antibacterial and antiviral supplement, probiotics keep your gut healthy, Vitamin D is a great immune booster
As always, if you are concerned about your illness please contact your healthcare provider.
